The head office of OLX is in Rio de Janeiro (Flamengo), with a second office in São Paulo (Av Paulista). The S&P Director will be based in either Rio de Janeiro or São Paulo.

The Big Challenge
The Strategy & Planning (S&P) Director is one of the most challenging roles at OLX. Our purpose clearly states our participation in re-inventing the consumption model in Brazil - and this person is responsible for shaping business strategy in this direction. This exciting role is also nestled within one of the best executive opportunities in the country - to help lead a very successful business pursuing it’s next chapter of growth. As recently presented in a case by the Harvard Business School , OLX Brazil has interesting strategic trade-offs in this ever-changing local ecosystem. The S&P Director is the primary strategy champion within the organization of OLX’s strategy (along with the relationship with the parent companies’ international strategies).

About the Role 
The S&P Director leads a nimble and highly impactful team, responsible for short, mid & long-term
strategy for the company, driving strategic accountability, and partnering with all functions to provide critical guidance, insights and strategic frameworks. The team works cross functionally across Product, Technology, Operations, Marketing, Finance, and beyond; and is a thought leader and advocate for our long term ambition, interacting directly with the C-suite and senior leaders at the Company. This means being responsible for our Annual Strategic Planning Cycle, OKRs (Objectives and Key Results) processes, and updating of our long term plan.

What You’ll Do
The S&P Director will have end-to-end responsibility for strategy & planning across the company. He/she will achieve these results in a fast-moving team that will work across the organization - this means bringing context and direction to opportunities that need to be tackled together, without a formal hierarchical relationship. Responsibilities include:

  •  Drive our Strategy: Create, enhance, update, communicate and execute the short, mid and long term Company strategy;
  • Focus our Execution & Results: Guarantee best-of-breed planning and measuring using the OKR (Objectives & Key Results) framework across the company. This includes guaranteeing best practices, training employees on how to use the method, and seek to continuously improve the tools and processes behind the company’s OKR cycle;
  • Align Our Global Strategy: Work closely with our parent companies S&P team to leverage our global business strategy to local requirements. Deeply assess how we can create and enhance differentiation relative to competition;
  • Own Competitive Intelligence: lead the team with deep quantitative and qualitative understanding of the competitive landscape across the local & global ecosystem that can power critical strategic decisions;
  • See The Future: relentlessly identify new ideas and businesses, develop hypothesis that push the business forward and plans to test them, and use data to rigorously prioritize how we deploy our resources.

What You’ll Need

  • Large experience of consulting / business intelligence / strategy / investment banking / or related experience; some high-growth operations or startup experience is strongly preferred;
  • Innate leadership and excellent people management, communication and influence skills - able to give focus, inspire and mobilize other areas without direct hierarchical control. Acts as true owner of the business;
  • A "driver" personality - biased toward action, great collaborator and an excellent disambiguator/simplifier - constantly pushing for clarity and delivery. You persevere when others give up;
  • Strategic vision and creativity that is unbridled by the world around you. You constantly challenge the status quo and push to find what’s next - you are always asking “How can X be better? Can we do it? Tomorrow?”;
  • Truly care for your team, and willing to invest time in understanding their motivations, concerns, ambitions and working hard to help them succeed and grow;
  • Experience and comfort in working cross-functionally with product and technology teams, giving structure, context and providing clear rationale behind prioritizations and strategy;
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced and fast growth environment, comfortable with ambiguity and making decisions under uncertainty;
  • Powerful persuasion and communication skills;
  • Results-oriented and highly data driven, with a knack for creating hypotheses, identifying what data is needed to prove, and converting data into clear insights;
  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA a plus;
  • Fluent in English;
